Repeat National Champions!

The No. 1 Â鶹´«Ã½rtb Softball Team defended its NCAA Division III National Championship Title as it downed Illinois Wesleyan University, 3-1, in the winner-take-all championship game at the USA Softball Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City on May 29. With the win, the Marlins become back-to-back national champions, finishing their season with a record of 55-3 and setting a Division III record for wins in a season. The Award-Winning Marlin Chronicle
Since 1966, Virginia Wesleyan's official student newspaper, The Marlin Chronicle, has provided student journalists with opportunities to communicate news to the campus community about life at Wesleyan and in the local community. This year, the completely student-run newspaper continued its legacy as an award winning publication, once again garnering awards from the Society for Collegiate Journalists (SCJ).
Renn Reserve and Pond
As Â鶹´«Ã½rtb's Executive Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, Joanne Renn, retires after 11 years as athletics director and 25 years total with the Marlins, President Scott D. Miller announced that an area on campus will be named in her honor.

"The grassy plains and pond area at the outdoor athletic complex has been named in Joanne's honor as Renn Reserve and Pond," declared Miller at the celebration event held for Renn on May 7.

Renn was also presented with several tokens of appreciation at the event-a plaque honoring her with the distinction of Athletics Director Emeritus, a resolution from the VWU Board of Trustees recognizing her 25 years of service, and a traditional Virginia Wesleyan commemorative chair.

Tina Hill, athletic director at Randolph College for the past 10 years, will assume Renn's role at Virginia Wesleyan on July 1.  More
